I lied. Now it's the last one....

OK, Just one more. Twins. Not identical. Now I'm done. Happy New Year everyone!

---------------
This is probably my last post for 2009 - What a doozy of a year! Enough said. I was asked to do headshots for the owner of a start-up company but he didn't want them to be typically static - A little life please? Without doing video? Is this the shape of things to come...

---------------
I just shot, essentially, triplets for a friend. This is Therese. More coming soon. Look at those eyes. Love babies, just don't need one of my own.

Several people have been asking me recently about shooting their dogs, how much it is, etc., etc. So, I'm posting the info here for all to see. Although I shoot canines mainly for stock, for commercial projects and for my own gratification, I'm now offering dog portraiture at a pretty reasonable rate. Here's the info:

I'm finally parting with my Hasselblad camera - I just need to find a buyer. Any reasonable offer above $6000 considered. Original cost over $20,000. In great shape, very well cared for... Call the studio at (303) 778.2340 for details.

Merry Christmas Everyone. Ho! Ho! Ho! Maybe a bit early? Does anyone feel like Christmas is being forced down their throat this year? I love Christmas. Everything about it. The food, the decorations, the very ungreen fresh-cut trees, the goofy old 70's and 80's Xmas music, sappy movies with happy endings (especially if they're animated), chocolate, wine, time with friends... I could just do without the commercialism and stress. So, Ho! Ho! Ho! Onward.

Up or Down, That is the Question... I'm also starting to think that some mutt's are much more interesting looking than purebreds...

Love starting the month with a dog shoot but getting back to people next week... Small catalogue for a local environmental company... Stay tuned. Yes, I know, it's very exciting...

Images created for PetStrength LLC - Phiten USA markets the technology to athletes and anyone wanting better energy flow throughout their body. "Proper energy balance helps to alleviate discomfort, speed recovery, and counteract fatigue. Athletes find that they tire less easily and recover faster from intense physical activity. Further benefits of Phiten’s exclusive technology are more relaxed muscles leading to less stress and a greater range of motion that can be of great benefit to an athlete or anyone in any walk of life." - PhitenUSA. Steve Lastofka, Czar of SPL International, Inc has secured exclusive rights to market them for use with pets. Go Doggie! Go Kitty!

I admit it - I am completely obsessed with dogs at the moment. So many breeds - Just a few images from an ongoing project. And yes, I still shoot humans for corporate, editorial and advertising purposes.

---------------
Dog day afternoon - Last water weekend of summer. Shot 30 Portuguese Water Dogs at an annual party - Just for fun. Only one incident between two intact males that lasted about five seconds.

---------------
I've been archiving this week and came across an older image... I wonder if work really was less stressful decades ago... (Although this was shot only a few years ago.)

And this (the old Denver Post Office converted to a court house) was shot right before the Timothy Mcveigh trial...

And these are oldies but goodies...

Question: It's pretty obvious if you're left or right-handed but how do you know if you have a dominant left or right eye?
Answer: Get a piece of paper, make a hole by passing a pencil through, hold out the paper in front of you and focus on something on the other side of the room. If, when you close your left eye, you can still see what you focused on, then your right eye is dominant. If the focus point isn't visible then you are left-eye dominant. What a fascinating but seemingly useless piece of information...

Have I mentioned how much I love my iphone? (Except the need for the constant resetting of the network...) My Portuguese Water Dog, Bodhi, has been suffering from an on-again, off-again limp (related to a tweaked vertebrae and pinched nerves in his neck) so I'm taking him to the chiropractor - He loves it... And is greatly improving. From iphone this morning:

Signing up with "Wonderful Machine" next month. See their latest press in the May issue of PDN at:

Last minute shoot for Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, CA - For use in an annual report. They used the image in connection with portraits from other relevant cities to tell the story of just one patient. Very cool.

I love it when I shoot for a company and they use the images not only for print but for TV also... Elison and Carl - Thank you. Great working with you guys.

This is Gus. Look at that face. What's not to love? (We used him as a prop in a shot for an ad campaign.) I thoroughly believe in the idea that not all people are created equal, but I also believe that idea extends to dogs. Not only are dogs, even within their own breed, not identical, they have different levels of intelligence and completely different personalities and boy, do those personalities challenge you to decide who you are in the equation...
